David happily "tipping" Papoose
Can you tell that Davie loves his job? He's a master carpenter, here painting the wooden-hulled Lapworth 36, Papoose. Rather than a sprayed paint job, the owner of Papoose wanted the more traditional look of a roll and tip finish.
Using this method, the paint is first applied with small roller, and while still wet, finished with a brush. The results of rolling and then tipping with a brush is clearly visible in the second photo.
However, Papoose will get a sprayed racing bottom -- obviously, for the owner, performance matters as well as appearance.
